I first met Ian professionally whilst he was working in South London, and and I was very pleased when our NHS paths crossed again in Dorset in late 2001 as I held him in high regard. Ian was a very clever and capable man, imbuing his work with good humour with healthy doses of pragmatism. I know how important his family was to him and my thoughts are with them at this very sad time.
